ABOUT US
We are a "non-profit" ideologically neutral and humanitarian foundation, which seeks to create good societies and opportunities for African children. Our method is to create good and sustainable societies based on the UN's sustainability goals, through creating good societies that support children's everyday life and development. We do this by involving everyone and also offering offers to the adults.
From 2011 until today, it has been a long journey with many challenges. GHTAC initially focused on building orphanages, which we were never able to complete due to the Ebola epidemic.
In 2016, we changed our strategy and started supporting existing schools in poor villages outside Monrovia. The first project was to support directly with funds for schooling and school materials for those who could not afford it, this is now underway in 4 schools. It is 50/50 boys and girls and priority is given to those with special needs or who are orphans.
The schools are the core of everything we do today and together with our partners in Liberia CODEPRO at Emma and Sam and the village councils we continue to develop the communities around the schools.
In 2018, we went further and had 2 solar systems installed. This gives the villages the opportunity to use the school buildings in the evening for adult education, homework help, meetings and as a community centre. In Liberia, there are many adults who have not learned to read and write because of war and poverty. Now these too get an opportunity to study and help their children.
Libraries are essential for well-functioning schools and good learning. In 2018, we opened two school libraries with complete book collections in accordance with the Liberian Ministry of Education's curriculum.
In 2019 and 2020, we opened two new libraries and expanded the book collections in all 4 schools, so that it functions as a "public library" where everyone is welcome and there is something to read for all generations.
We will also consider what more content we can provide these schools.
